LIFE HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME
– RANDAL KEITH CD REVIEW
Music, per se, is a various and sundry field of entertainment. The
crowd I run with goes in for ‘popular’ music, specifically
rock, although other forms of ‘popular’ music turn up like
blues and even bluegrass. We don’t line dance or learn Italian
for the opera though. But there is another genre of music that my friends
and I never think of much, although it is as least as popular as blues
and jazz together, fan wise, and that is the music of show tunes. Rarely
does a show tune crack the charts (but it does happen). The draw to
this style of music is the voice of the person singing the song. The
songs often vary in range, pitch, and temperament, all in a moment’s
note. A voice to sing this style of songs is trained up there with opera
singers in preparation. It is this type of voice, a rich, clear baritone
voice, that RANDAL KEITH brings to the show tunes and grand old standards
backed by full orchestration that he does on this label quality CD.
Currently on tour as Jean Valjean, the main chesse in the world's most
popular musical, 'Les Miserables, Mr. Randal Keith performs a diverse
compilation of Broadway musical songs he has delivered in past shows
along with personal favorites. We’re talking songs like: Cole
Porter’s ‘All Through The Night’ from Anything goes,
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s ‘Some Enchanted Evening’
from South Pacific, and Hoagy Carmichael’s ‘The Nearness
Of You’. Also featured are songs from Evita, Faust, JC Superstar,
and The Phantom of the Opera. For current info on RK, check out his
