| Nuevo / Romoland: Another sex offender is now living in the area |

Nuevo, California - On Wednesday November 4, 2009, at about 9am, Deputies from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station with the assistance of the Nuevo Valley Citizens Patrol conducted a (PNP) Public Notification Program of a registered sex offender in the community of Nuevo. The PNP was conducted regarding Registered Sex Offender Juan Javier Mejia Jr. Mejia is a convicted sex offender currently residing as a transient in the Nuevo area. The PNP consisted of passing out flyers with Mejia’s picture and personal information which was obtained through the Department of Justice Megan’s Law website. The purpose of this program is to make the community aware of a convicted sex offender who is residing in the Nuevo area. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department released the subject's photograph and physical description pursuant to Penal Code section 290 and AB 1323 to allow members of the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders.
