Harsh words begin, only weeks into a special election for the 37th State Senate SeatRiverside County, California - Well folks, it has started. The trash talking in the race for the 37th State Senate Seat has commenced with Candidate Russ Bogh slinging mud at fellow Republican Candidate Bill Emmerson. Bill Emmerson moved from his Redlands home where he is currently representing the 63rd Assembly District to a rented home in Hemet so he could qualify to run in the race for the 37th Sate Senate seat. The Senate Seat was vacated by John Beniot who was appointed to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors by Governor Schwarzenegger after Roy Wilson resigned his 4th district seat just days before his death in August. Of course Emmerson took some heat for being a Carpetbagger when he announced his candidacy, although he defends this on his website, where he explains: "Bill moved to Riverside County as a young boy and grew up on a ranch in the San Jacinto/Hemet Valley. He attended elementary school in Hemet, high school at La Sierra Academy, community college at Riverside Community College and received a degree from La Sierra University in Riverside. After practicing orthodontics for 26 years. in Hemet and Idyllwild, Bill was elected to the Assembly in 2004." Russ Bogh is certainly one of the people taking aim at Bill Emmerson, at this time they are the only two Republicans in the running. Russ Bogh spent years in the California Assembly representing the 65th district until 2006 when he was forced out due to term limits. After a bitter Senate Primary in 2008 where Bogh was defeated by John Beniot, there is no doubt Bogh wants to get what he originally set out to accomplish. According to a post by on the website http://www.FlashReport.com, Bogh claims to be the only 'Reagan Conservative'; thus making him the only real option for Republican voters: My opponent Assemblyman Bill Emmerson has decided to reregister and run in the 37th District. Assemblyman Emmerson and I differ on many issues. Here are some of the key differences and why I am the better choice: I am pro-life and oppose using tax money for abortions. Because I believe only Republicans should be allowed to choose our candidates, I oppose Senator Maldonado’s open primary initiative. Finally I oppose the expansion of government into Obama-style health care. Since I am the only Reagan conservative in the race, Sacramento special interests who demand tax increases to fund their social programs will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to defeat me and smear my good name. I think the tone of this race will get down right nasty based on the past race Bogh ran in 2008. I remember getting all sorts of USPS mail from his campaign and they always were negative. I am personally not a fan of either one of them. I think Sacramento needs leadership that thinks outside the box, from people who don't take money from special interest groups and lobbyists of ANY kind. We do not need more of the same, from the same people who helped to get our great state into this financial mess. Do you want either one of them to represent you? What do you think, what is YOUR experience with Bogh and Emmerson? Please chime in with your thoughts! |
