October 20, 2008 by Bill Gould, Publisher.
Winchester, California - On Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at about 9:21 am, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Southwest Station received a call about the welfare of a resident on Bermuda Ave in the area north of Temecula known as Winchester. An employer had called to report one of their employee’s had not shown up to work.
Deputies arrived at 9:22 am at the address on Bermuda Ave and found the front door to the residence open. Deputies walked into the house and located two victims of an apparent homicide. The victims are a male and a female, both are adults.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit responded to the location and assumed the investigation and the bodies of the victims were transported to the Coroners office for an autopsy.
On Thursday, October 17, 2008, an autopsy was conducted on homicide victims Jan P. Pietrzak 24 yrs. and his wife Quianna Jenkins- Pietrzak 26 yrs. of Winchester. The autopsy revealed that both subjects were the victims of gunshot wounds to the head.
In respect to the initial investigation the reason for CDF Arson investigators response was to have them inspect a possible point of fire origin in the residence. The suspect(s) had lit a fire in the residence that caused little damage. It appears the fire was set in what was an unsuccessful attempt to burn evidence. During the course of the preliminary investigation it was determined that there were no signs of break-in to the residence on Bermuda Ave, in the unincorporated area near Winchester.
Investigators to work diligently in regard to this investigation and are following all leads and information no matter how slight. Numerous items of evidence have been collected, many of which will be submitted for fingerprint and/or DNA analysis. The investigation is continuing anyone with information is encouraged to contact Inv. Josh Button at Sheriff’s Central Homicide (760) 393-3500 or Inv.
