Dinner, Dancing and Drama: The Temecula Mayor’s Ball for The Arts

Personally this event is close to me, as I have been working with The Arts Council of Temecula for many years now. This is the third Mayor’s Ball I have had the pleasure of working on, and each year it is fun. The event is great with some first class entertainment and if you have the extra money you should come and support a wonderful organization like the Arts Council. Below is the press release they sent out, if your interested in buying a table or sponsoring the event, all the contact info is at the bottom.

Dress as a star, or come as you are to “Hurrah for Hollywood.” Mayor Mike Naggar’s Fundraising Celebration for the Arts in Temecula Valley will be held Saturday, September 6th outdoors, under the starry skies at the beautiful Temecula Creek Inn.

Saturday, September 6, 2008
6:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Temecula Creek Inn
44501 Rainbow Canyon Road Temecula, CA

Enjoy delicious appetizers during the no-host cocktail hour with the music of Guilty Conscience; savor Temecula’s finest award-winning wines, dine on the old style Hollywood gourmet cuisine, feast your eyes on swing dances performed by the nationally acclaimed Memory Lane Dance Troupe, and then cut the carpet on your own while dancing to the 30 piece big band Robert Holtz Orchestra, guaranteed to make you swoon with the Hollywood tunes! This year’s celebration is going to be one of the best ever! All tables will have a movie theme and patrons can dress in the theme or just enjoy those around them who do so. Various table themes include Gone With The Wind, The Great Gatsby, Star Wars, and The Wizard of Oz. Or, get a group of 10 friends together and name your own table theme. The possibilities are endless! Local costumers have agreed to give all Celebration attendees a discount on any costume rentals in support of the fundraising cause. We also have local costumers who will help you design and create your own to keep. For contact information, ask the Arts Council when you purchase your event tickets.

Master of Ceremonies Gene Wunderlich will preside over this glittering event along with your host, Mayor Mike Naggar. “For nearly 20 years, the Mayor’s Ball has offered opportunities to meet and mingle with civic and community leaders and other supporters of arts in the Valley while also providing critical funds for the Arts Council and its programs which benefit ALL arts organizations in our community. I encourage everyone to come out and ‘be a star’ on September 6th,” noted Mayor Naggar. And don’t forget to bring your checkbook for the unique silent/live auction items available.

A feature highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Fourth Annual Temecula Valley Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to the Arts to be presented to none other than our very own Patti Drew, confirmed Sheila Havens Ryle, President of the Arts Council. “We established this award four years ago in order to thank and honor those who have given selflessly of their time and energy to passionately promote excellence in the arts. The individuals honored by this award do not “make a living” in the Arts. They “make a difference!” I cannot think of a more deserving individual than Patty and I am delighted that we can recognize her many years of devotion and dedication to the arts with this award” stated Sheila Ryle, Chair of the Evening. Past award recipients include Beverly Stevenson, Jim and Dorothy Meyler and Eve Craig.

Tickets are $100 per person and all proceeds benefit Arts Council programs that support the display and performance of the arts, provide arts programs that offer hope and promise for at-risk youth, and re-grant endowment monies to Valley arts groups to promote and help ensure the success of their programs.
