Menifee, California - A vegetation fire in the Romoland area of the new City of Menifee burned about 4 acres and damaged 3 buildings according to reports by the Riverside County Fire Department. The fire broke out at about 530pm near the intersection of Patelli Way and Malone Ave (click here for a map) at the far northwest corner of Menifee.

I was on the scene within minutes of the fire starting and the fire had already engulfed what looked like a home, although it was listed as an ‘out building’ in the Fire Department press release. There was a lot of local neighborhood people milling around looking at the fire, as well as some local residents nearest the fire apparently packing up and leaving the area in fear of their houses burning down.

According to the Fire Department the fire is ‘under investigation’. At 845pm there had been a total of 8 engines and 25 firefighters battling the blaze. I addition to the outbuilding burning, 2 barns had burned, however no estimates of monetary losses were available. Having seen the damage I would guess it was over $100,000 in damage to the buildings and adjacent properties.

One disturbing thing I found in the area of the fire was swastikas spray painted onto a white trailer next to the fire. There was also a ‘SWP’ in white spray paint on a block wall right around the corner, as seen in this picture. I do know from a Google search that ‘SWP’ stands for ‘Supreme White Power’ and is often tagged in white paint by white supremacists who want to further spread their ideology.

I would hate to think that this fire was a result of a hate group, however anything is possible. Menifee, California - Un incendio de vegetación en la zona de Romoland de la nueva Ciudad de Menifee quemaron alrededor de 4 hectáreas y 3 edificios dañados según los informes por el Condado de Riverside Departamento de Bomberos. El incendio estalló alrededor de 530pm a cerca de la intersección de Camino Patelli y Malone Ave (click aquí para ver un mapa) en el extremo noroeste esquina de Menifee.

Yo estaba en la escena en pocos minutos de iniciar el fuego y el fuego ya había envuelto lo que parecía un hogar, si bien es catalogado como un “edificio a cabo ‘en el Departamento de Bomberos de comunicado de prensa. I Además de la quema de la dependencia, 2 graneros había quemado, no obstante las estimaciones de las pérdidas monetarias estaban disponibles. Después de haber visto el daño que me supongo que fue de más de 100000 dólares en daños a los edificios y propiedades adyacentes.

Una cosa inquietante he encontrado en la zona del incendio era spray cruces gamadas pintadas en un remolque de color blanco al lado del fuego. También hubo un “SWP” en blanco pintura en aerosol sobre una pared de bloque a la vuelta de la esquina, como se ve en esta foto. Sé de una búsqueda en Google que ‘SWP’ significa ‘Supremo White Power “y es a menudo etiquetado en pintura blanca de supremacistas blancos que quieren una mayor propagación de su ideología.

B/W - ROCK ‘N’ ROLL EATS AIN’T NOISE POLLUTION

Temecula, CA – As business after business leaves T-town due to either the economic downturn or the punitive decrees passed by the city council, it’s easy to think storm clouds for anything innovative happening here in the valley. But ‘Saints be praised’ as once again ‘scene’ personalities have produced something amazing, completely unique, interesting, and a credit to the community.

The latest business in town is the peripatetic ‘Mr. Pete’s Breakfast Burrito Extravaganza’, accessible every Wednesday from 9AM-1PM at the anchor end of the weekly Farmer’s Market in the Promenade Mall parking lot between Macy’s and the Union 76 mini-mart. The brainchild of Ivan McClain (Ivan Promotions, The Vault, Cuppy’s) and Paul Bahou (band: Inverse, Global Plastics) is fully up and running, racking up robust sales, repeat business, and with the authorities investigating T-town’s Wine & Balloon Festival (fiscal matters) plus Andy being a Dick, the ‘rock ‘n’ roll’ burrito stand is shooting up the (popularity) charts like a bullet’, as the old school saying goes.

The music references are here because the very first week ‘Mr. Pete’s’ also served up a live band, a side dish that didn’t stomach well with the Kingston Trio crowd. Remedying that oversight the second week and using an iPod for a DJ with the volume set to ‘background’ instead of stun, crowds have gathered under the ‘Mr. Pete’s’ side tent that provides shade for eating at the food court end of the market with remarks like, “Better than Alberto’s”, “These are really big”, and “Yummmhumm”. An Afghani businessman was heard to say just yesterday, “This (burrito) reminds me of my childhood, the way the potatoes taste…”

Indeed yesterday (7/16, the day of the Dick, see previous story) was the very first time that ‘Mr. Pete’s Breakfast Burrito Extravaganza has ever sold out of food at the market, though each week the sales have been brisk. The eye-catching souvenir menu is simplicity itself, with just three burrito selections: ‘The Wake’n Steak, your new morning ritual’, ‘The Man Burrito, there’s a reason you smell bacon’, and ‘The Vegetable Monologues, it speaks for itself’, with the word play and double entendre sparking a chuckle from more than just the scene crowd that have the new Wednesday morning habit. And like another popular eatery in town that I won’t out, ‘Mr. Pete’s Breakfast Burrito Extravaganza also has a secret menu: you can order up a ‘Beirut’, a burrito wrapped in a quesadilla or a ‘Wake’n Bake’, the ‘Wake’n Steak’ with added bacon. Other ‘secret’ items may be added to the menu as they are thought of, and there’s no telling just what Paul, Ivan, Sal (guitarist – Inverse), and Mr. Pete may come up with next.

But for now, these scene-sters are proving once again that, ‘if you build a better mousetrap, the world will be a path to your burrito.’ And Dear readers, the burritos really are tasty, very tasty and filling. My fave is ‘The Vegetable Monologues’. Cost is $6 for burritos and $8 for the ‘Beirut’. De hecho ayer (7 / 16, el día del Dick, ver historia anterior) fue la primera vez que «Señor Pete’s Breakfast Burrito Extravaganza ha vendido todas las entradas de alimentos en el mercado, aunque cada semana las ventas han sido muy ágiles. La llamativa recuerdo menú es la simplicidad en sí, con sólo tres burrito selecciones: “La Wake’n Steak, por la mañana su nuevo ritual ‘,’ El Hombre Burrito, hay una razón por la que el olor de tocino” y “Monólogos de la verdura, habla por sí mismo ‘, con la palabra juego y doble sentido provocando una chuckle de algo más que la escena de multitudes que tienen el miércoles por la mañana nuevo hábito.
