FINCH - THE BAND TEMECULA COULDN’T KILL – HITS THE ROAD JACK

LOCAL BAND TO CO-HEADLINE WITH SCARY KIDS SCARING KIDS NATIONAL-WIDE

Temecula, CA – Back in the day when the music scene was first gearing up around here and the local punks were everywhere, a band named FINCH broke out of the valley and got big. They drew attention to a new sub-genre in music and started a trend. They were huge everywhere, except in their hometown of Temecula, California. The same mindset that shut down the scene also ignored the band’s nationwide success, perhaps because it was in the youth market at the center of the ‘cool’ zone. They did play one show here in T-town, just one, and it was sold-out as in SRO. It happened in the most unlikely place, The Temecula Stampede.

The ‘Day After Chill’ with $10 doors was 11/24/2002. The all-ages show featured Aftermarket, Die Radio Die, Impress The Kid (they also impressed a young Bill Gould), Letter Kills, DJ Brian, DJ Eclipse, Club Silicone Style DJ, and headlined FINCH. It was an awesome show and the local youth (the scene) talked about it for weeks afterwards at all the schools up and down the valley. Shortly afterwards, the band seemed to crash and burn, and my heart sunk. I mean, a band from Temec getting their video and songs played on MTV! They had given inspiration to a hundred, perhaps a thousand bands that were starting around this musical valley. After a while, some of the FINCH’s members formed a new band called Cosmonaut and played some local scene shows at The Vault and maybe also at CUPPY’S.

Now, in an exclusive, the Full Value Review is proud to exclaim to the town without pity, the return of FINCH the band to the road. You could say that this all commenced with the ‘Back From The Dead’ Fest at The Glass House last year. Then it was on to putting the band’s profile at Friends or Enemies.com, and now as the band polishes up new songs for the EP to accompany the summer tour co-headlining with Scary Kids Scaring Kids (the cool AZ band that first played the T-town scene with ACOP at Madlins), the final details are being ironed out for this new FINCH/Scary Kids Scaring Kids tour.

The Review, and especially me, PT, sez ‘Break A Leg’ to your new tour which starts 7/18/08 at SOMA. To purchase tix visit here.
