THIS WEEKEND, TWO ‘F’s WILL GIVE YOU A+ ENTERTAINMENT

CITIES SUPPOSED DEMISE OF SCENE CREATES ALTERNATE VENUES

SW Riverside Co., CA – Though the concerted close-minded and hypocritical city councils appeared to have thwarted the new music scene around Temecula and Murrieta much like Satan has tried to chase ‘Good’ from the earth, the new music scene refuses to be crucified. Fragmented, the scene has taken shape at local establishments like Bob’s Murrieta Pizza, It’s A Grind (Murrieta location by Guitar Center), and Perk’s (Temecula), with each providing another leg from the once solid scene core. Now Full Value Entertainment and the Temecula branch of Food Not Bombs bring you a weekend bonanza of new music. WoooHooo!

First up, expanding the popular ‘Live From’ Series at The Merc (in Old Town Temec), Bill Gould and Full Value Entertainment offer up the first ‘Live From The Diamond Club’ music show at the newly remodeled facility atop the Lake Elsinore Storm Baseball stadium. The music show will start right after the Saturday (6/21) evening baseball game at 9PM and will also include a DJ. This first show will feature Canyon Lake’s very own Opus Humanus who recently headlined the 2008 Temecula Music Fest, and San Diego’s finest indie-rock band, The Drowning Men. Opus Humanus’ sound can be best described as rock, with classic rock influences from bands like Pink Floyd, while keeping it modern and fresh by writing their own songs. Info on the band and music samples can be found at www.myspace.com/opushumanus. The Drowning Men will bring San Diego’s cutting edge indie-rock sound to the Diamond Club. After playing some of SD’s biggest venues like Belly Up Tavern, The Drowning Men are beginning to tackle areas north with Lake Elsinore being the first stop. Visit www.myspace.com/drowningmen for more info on the band and music clips. $10 doors are half price with the Storm game ticket stub.

The next day, Sunday (6/22), Food Not Bombs and the Anarcat Collective, two splinter scenes that have merged into one, and who put together T-Town’s coolest Earth Day event (which naturally wasn’t covered in the mainstream media but was reported here in words and photos, see archives), presents an all-day (2PM-9PM) music show that at press time has over 10 bands/artists onboard. The benefit show, which is being put on at the Desert Rose Café, 34846 Monte Vista Drive, is located in Wildomar, just north of Murrieta. Featured are: Aesthetic Is Love, Trinity, Tipper’s Gore, Leah & Havi, All Out Attack, This Legacy Remains, Belligerent, Spellcheck, Viking Mice, and Progeria, with acoustic sets by Ken, Janelle, & Javi. $10 doors and please feel free to donate beans, rice, or canned goods. Food Not Bombs feeds people free in the local parks around the valley. Also be sure to pick up their literature concerning the vegan lifestyle, animal rights, and the best way to recycle as a lifestyle. All bands mentioned above are found on myspace and in the underground neighborhood of The Review.
