WINDY CITY WRIGHT WRONG BUT BYRD SHIT STILL FLIES FOR SOUTHERN CHRISTIANS, and other NEWS BITS

SO MUCH NEWS, SO LITTLE TIME

T-town, CA – Though Obama has been chastised for his association with his pastor, a Reverend Jeremiah Wright who spoke his anger and frustration with America using his free speech, with Obama ultimately being manipulated into ‘disowning’ his minister by the ‘establishment’ and the media, no one is making much of a fuss over the Associated Press story about Roger Byrd, pastor of the South Carolina Jonesville Church of God who put on the front church marquee, under the hours of church operation, in big bold letters: “OBAMA, OSAMA – HUMMM, ARE THEY BROTHERS.” Pastor Byrd said he wasn’t trying to be political. I guess he just wanted to keep it racist and ignorant for the flock.

WILL THE SCENE SURVIVE??

It used to be that you had a choice of real entertainment around here on a weekend night. Now as you glance at the free local ‘rags’ nightlife sections, ‘boneless  50¢ drumsticks Thursdays’, and ‘happy hours’ dot the landscape as entertainment offerings along with ‘drunk people doing bad things to good music while hoping to get lucky’, I mean karaoke. FVE and Bill Gould are trying to bring an essence of youth cool back to the valley by throwing rock and new music shows ‘at the Merch’ in Old Town Temecula on Friday nights beginning on May 9^th. Local teen band 15 North is slated to be one of the first acts showcased in the series.

WILL RIOTS ROCK CLEVELAND?

‘Could be, if Obama isn’t elected president’ sports the latest political rumor rolling through the lightest skin sections of the suburbs around Cleveland, Ohio. Though they say this election isn’t about race, which is true since only the human race is involved in the process, this election does appear to be about skin color and gender, and also about having a memory of how we got this far (out of whack).

WHICH ONE IS WORSE, NIXON OR BUSH?

Well, the results are in. A Bush stinks worst than a Dick. Today’s official result is that George Bush is the ‘worst president EVER!! Nixon’s worst disapproval rating was 68% but George Dubya broke the record with a 71% disapproval rating today. Guess the 29% represents government workers who were polled. Was there ever any doubt? Even Roger’s old sainted diehard Republican aunt admits, “He just isn’t too bright.” It used to be, ‘Hungry, eat your foreign car’. Now it’s, ‘like losing your home, like $4 a gallon gas, thank a Republican and the man who said, “Mission Accomplished” 4,061 U.S. body bags ago. Meanwhile plans continue unabated to create the Amero (a North American currency similar to the Euro), build a ‘tank friendly’ highway from Mexico to Canada (already started in where (?), oh, John ‘More of the Same’ McCain’s home state of Arizona), and an aircraft carrier is being readied for the ‘smackdown’ of Iran. I think George can get to the 75% level myself, don’t you?

LOCALS TO DISCUSS ‘ARE WE ALONE?’

Rounding up today’s news bits is this notice that a number of locals thinkers are set to meet tonight at Nirvana’s new age gift shop to chat about whether we are ‘alone in the universe’. The meeting is to begin around 7PM at the strip mall housing Michael’s Pizza that is located at the corner of Margarita and Pauba Roads. Personally, I’ve always thought that if we are ‘it’, what a terrible waste of space (pun intended).
