New York Giants WIN Super Bowl 42 in Arizona (as we predicted!!)

Glendale, Arizona - As we predicted here on this website, the New York Giants won Super Bowl 42 in Glendale Arizona today, Sunday February 3 2008. Eli Manning played an amazing game leading his team at the end of the 4th quarter to a come-from-behind victory. The defense of New York did a fantastic job holding the Patriots and sacking New England Quarterback, Tom Brady, on a few different occasions. Eli Manning was named the Super Bowl MVP, and for good reason considering his terrific performance. For more info and stats visit msn.FoxSports.com.

Please don’t make us say we told you so. :)

Super Bowl Notes; Jordin Sparks Sings, Tom Petty Rocks, Arizona and a Giant prediction

Glendale, Arizona - OK, here it is, my fair prediction for todays game after only a few minutes of play in the first quarter - the Giants will win. Also, I must say that I am jealous of the great weather in Phoenix. The dome is closed at the stadium because they talked about possible rain today and of course the NFL couldn’t take a chance with rain being they chose Arizona for the big game. Either way, I am wishing I lived in Phoenix right about now as I sit in So Cal in the rain not able to BBQ.

One other point of mention, Jordin Sparks who was the 2007 American Idol winner (and from Glendale , Az), sang the most beautiful version of the Star Spangled Banner I think I have ever heard on a TV broadcast. Without doubt she is truly deserving of her title.

I will be back as the night goes on with other random info and statements.

***HALF TIME UPDATE***

Great halftime performance by Tom Petty, the guy is amazing. The production was good, sound was good for a stadium halftime show and he play some great classic tunes. His are songs that transcend generations and are now apart of the American fabric. Long live Petty!

The Hannah Montana 3D Movie, what a trip, although a good one

So, a few months back I saw in some entertainment industry publications that there was going to be a Hannah Montana / Miley Cyrus movie; and I knew I was going to see it - as if I had a choice. I am the proud father of a 7 year old little girl who adores everything Hannah / Miley. She literally goes to bed every night listening to the CD’s on her radio, singing the words as she falls asleep. So this past week, we went down and bought our tickets to the show before it sold out.

I’m glad I did. I swear I really am.

Going into the theater at 8am (yes AM, as in way before most sane people go to the movies), I had some fears. I had fears of little girls freakin’ out, screaming, and jumping up and down for 90 minutes straight. This was my biggest fear, kinda like tall ladders and crowded elevators. As the movie previews went on I began to see symptoms of my fears coming to fruition. The kids were restless, drinking huge sodas at the time when they normally have juice and rather loud talking was prevalent.

Then the movie began, and all was well in the world (and the theater I was in). I know that sounds weird - huh?

From the moment the movie began, the children (and many parents) went in to some kind of hypnotic trance. No one moved, including me, and we all stared in amazement at the screen. I will begin by saying I am not a Hannah Montana fan, but I don’t hate her. It is just that I would much rather listen to Fort Minor, The Killers or some Green Day. I wont say that I am now a fan, but this movie was incredible to say the least.

I have seen a few 3D movies before, and none compare to this at all. The effects jump out at you like nothing I have ever seen before and what is most amazing is the fact it is a live show and not a studio produced film. Beyond any of that what also stands out is Miley Cyrus’ performance ability and song writing skill. Clearly she has songwriting help on her Miley Cyrus songs and all of her Hannah Montana songs are written by pro song writers for Disney, but she does have talent. Her talent also shows during a stage show full of dancing, however not the slutty dancing of Britney Spears, but the kind of fun dancing that a daddy feels OK about considering his daughter is only 7.

Her lyrics also reflect positive messages about how not everyone is perfect, missing her GrandPa who passed away and a mention in a song that boys are fine, but thats where she draws the line. Wheras Britney would sing about ‘Hit me one more time’ and ‘Oops I did it again’, where vague references to sex were always included in her songs and her outfits were skimpy - Miley skips all that and sticks with fun upbeat fare as ‘We got the party’, ‘Girls Night Out’ where she speaks of ‘drawing the line’ and I never felt like she was showing more skin than a normal 15 year old girl should be.

I feel safe in recommending this movie to any parent who wants a fun time to spend with the kids. After seeing the trailer for another movie, I also look forward to the 3D film featuring live performances of the band many parents of Miley fans will like, U2. The U2 3D movie premiered at Sundance and is now playing in selected theaters and it opens at the Temecula Mall Edwards Theater on February 15 2008. You will see a review later that day!
