SCENE HONEYS PROVIDE COLOR COMMENTS FOR PLEASANTVILLE
January 29, 2008 by PT Rothschild.
“LADIES AND GENTLE QUATS, A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME”
In response to yesterday’s article about the protest over the upcoming production of ‘The Vagina Monologues’ and the use of the textbook word ‘vagina’, several of my scene girl buds supplied their own nicknames for the organ in question, in hopes that the offended local citizens might find some relief in using different verbiage to describe the most delicate part of womanhood.
An Asian friend called to say she named hers the ‘Chinese finger trap’, while her South American buddy nicknamed her vagina, ‘the Bone Collector.’ “I liked the movie,” she said gleefully with a giggle in our phone conversation.
Another friend who is fond of turtles said, “mine is ‘the little snapper’.”
One diversified friend said she named her rear end, ‘Rosa Parks’ though she mused, “it’s an ironic name because we all know that Mrs. Parks didn’t like it in the back.”
And one last scene flower related that her ‘magic box’ is nicknamed Matilda, after the old Watusi R&B hit, ‘Twisting Matilda’.
I hope this helps those who are rubbed the wrong way by a vagina to find solace through more everyday language.
