Two arrested in alcohol sting

San Jacinto, California - The City of San Jacinto is dedicated to public safety. Each year underage adults and youth fall victim to the harmful effects of alcoholic beverage consumption. These incidents range in severity from alcohol poisoning to fatal traffic collisions.

In an effort to minimize these harmful incidents, the San Jacinto Police Department in cooperation with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) conducted a “Shoulder Tap” program. The program is funded by a grant awarded by ABC. The program involved deploying adult decoys under the legal drinking age at local establishments where alcoholic beverages are sold. The decoys then solicited customers to purchase alcoholic beverages.

Officers sent decoys to one location. The decoys solicited nineteen persons. Two adults agreed to purchase alcoholic beverages for the under age decoys. Those persons who purchased the alcoholic beverages were arrested.

Our goal is 100% compliance by all establishments. Programs like this one and others such as Minor Decoy programs are tools the San Jacinto Police Department will continue to employ to achieve our goal and minimize harmful incidents.
