NEW MUSIC SEED CONTINUES TO LOOK FOR FRESH SOIL
Temecula, CA – The coffee house located in the Palm Plaza shopping center which houses Mervyns, K-Mart, and Food 4 Less, has been sold and the new owners of Perks, have added new music to their otherwise tasty menu of coffeehouse treats. This past weekend, the second one to feature new, local music makers offered up scene band Nice Day, the band that thrilled so many when they opened for Foghat at the Old Town Community Theatre. With no ‘empire’ neighbors close around, it will be interesting to see if the scene police are sicced on Perks, or if the city will assess the shop to get more bathrooms and fire exits as it did with The Vault. Like Bob said in his song made famous by Eric Clapton and paraphrased here:
‘Sheriff in T-town always hated me, for what I don’t know. Every time I plant a music seed, he say kill it before it grow. He say kill them before they grow, and so …’
With 2000 bands in a 25 mile radius of T-town, the city is launching a ‘battle of the bands’ to showcase 6 local bands. Can we get six metal music notes added the Overland overpass artwork, ya think?

COLD TEMPS + HOT BANDS = BENEFIT $$

THE ROAD TO CUPPYS MUSIC SHOWS STARTS WITH $800
Murrieta, CA – Though a Mudville PD Charger stood guard outside Cuppy’s locked front door on Friday night as a warning, it made no difference to the hundreds of ‘scene’ music fans who braved the cold temps (in the 30’s) on Saturday night to show support for the new music scene, Cuppy’s Coffee, and Cuppy’s owner Johnny.
Fans thrilled to bands like The Science Team, Cetas Aspire, and Lower Definition (Lower D) and took turns by the fire pit and wolfing down the delicious hot dogs cooked up by Johnny himself and sold for $1.50 each. Conversations were plentiful and many people caught up with old friends and made new ones at the first of several Save Cuppy’s Benefit Shows to keep the free world rocking. The next show is scheduled for February 9th and features local scene band, Nice Day, among others TBA.
