AND ANOTHER ONE BITS THE DUST - !!BREAKING NEWS!!

CLOUD 9 COFFEE HOUSE CLOSES DOORS TO SHOWS & TREATS

Murrieta, CA – At 9PM this evening, one of the last two coffee houses to provide live new original music is closing its doors forever, completing the city shutdown of places for 14-20 year olds to hang out that don’t serve alcohol or have belly dancers. In an exclusive for the Review, owner Bill Gould told this journalist earlier today that this was the last day of operation for Cloud 9 Coffee.

Citing economic reasons that seem invisible to Bush and Bill O’Reilly, Gould blamed the current recession and opined that people are spending money on things that they need, and no longer have disposable income for things they want or like. “If I could have had a hundred customers a day, (we) would have been gold.”

Certainly the CUPPYS crackdown drew the curtain to a close for all the independent little shop venues who saw the political writing on the wall following the harass & intimidate police force tactics used in the crackdown. Sometimes ‘discretion is the better part of valor’ is what my old grand pappy used to say. It’s a Grind and Cloud 9 both discreetly disappeared from the Valley News scene listing this past week.

From the ‘damn the torpedoes (and the ‘Man’), full speed ahead’ group across town, one coffee shop ‘vows to boldly go where no coffee shop has gone before’. Reeling off the success of having open FREE hang out night Wednesdays, Cuppy’s Coffee & More is looking to get an interior facelift from Corporate, with the idea being of making the Murrieta spot an example of the franchise shop that you can own and make into a scene music spot at your locality.

The Florida based franchise has followed the storied history of Java Joz/Cuppy’s through myspace and the Full Value Review posts, and they decided to help Johnny keep the integrity of having an all ages non-alcohol new music venue a viable option despite the city’s dispute. The thought is that other, more open minded municipalities will see the value in having safe entertainment available for teens rather than $700 chairs and $8K office sets for firefighters and librarians.
