Cold case from 2003 nets arrests of Vagos M/C for murder of fellow member

Fontana, California - On April 5, 2003 at approximately 1156am, Sheriff’s deputies located the victim, Dennis Daoussis in Landers, Ca. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound. Detectives learned prior to his death, Daoussis resided in Fontana with Andrew Lozano aka ‘Hulk’ a Vagos Outlaw Motorcycle gang member. Detectives searched Daoussis’ and Lozano’s residence. During the search, evidence was recovered tying the Vagos OMG to Daoussis’ murder. Detectives spoke with numerous people through 2004, but witnesses were uncooperative due to fear of retaliation and therefore the investigation stalled.

In April of 2006, three years after Daoussis was murdered, Detectives from the Homicide Detail reviewed the evidence that was recovered and spoke to numerous people who knew Daoussis. People who had useful information were more willing to talk to detectives three years after the incident occurred. In older cases it is quite common for witnesses to cooperate years later, because there is no immediate threat and more often than not, they feel some responsibility and want to help bring closure to the victim’s family.

On June 20, 2007, the case was submitted to the District Attorney’s Office. This is a unique case, because it was a Cold Case and a Gang Case. District Attorney John Thomas is assigned to prosecute Cold Case Murders and District Attorney Britt Imes is assigned to prosecute Gang related murders. In August of 2007, Homicide Detectives met with Thomas and Imes. Both Thomas and Imes provided different strategies for prosecuting the case, because they each have experience and training in their respective field. On September 14, 2007, Thomas and Imes issued a murder warrant for the arrest of David Anthony Beltran aka ‘Kilo’ a Vagos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Member. The case was filed in the Fontana Superior Court.

Through the investigation, suspect David Beltran was identified in connection with the murder of Dennis Daoussis, On September 20, 2007 detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail arrested Beltran at the Chino State Prison. He was transported and booked at the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held without bail.

On October 26, 2007, a warrant was issued in the amount of $2,000,000.00 for the arrest of Andrew Lozano. The warrant is for the crimes of murder, kidnapping and torture. This morning Lozano was arrested in Fontana by the Sheriff’s Crime Impact team. Lozano, who is known in the Vagos as ‘Hulk’, was Daoussis’ former roommate and was linked to the crime by both evidence and witness interviews. Detectives are still investigating the case and anticipate making additional arrests in the near future.

The Vagos continue to be one of the most violent and dangerous outlaw motorcycle clubs in the region. Among the crimes the Vagos are believed to be involved in are prostitution, weapons trafficking, stealing motorcycles, the manufacture and distribution of drugs and murder.

Most of Daoussis friends and associates knew him by the name of ‘Shorty’. Anyone with information regarding this case, please contact Detective Greg.
