GOODBYE TO THE LIONS OF WINTER: THE SCENE IS BACK, JACK

Temecula Valley, California - A few decades ago, George Plimpton, a household name in intellectual circles for the expertise displayed in situations far outside his field of endeavor, remarked that if he could come back again, of all the marvelous things he had done, the one he would most like to repeat would be ‘being part of the scene’. Now to be honest, the ‘scene’ he was describing was populated with people like Andy Warhol, but you get my drift here. So what is a ‘scene’? Three of the four definitions in Webster’s pretty much set the parameters.
