On the road with Burke: Bike tour day 118 - I meet a fellow non-motorized traveler and I foe-paw

Written By: Burke

Upstate New York - A couple days ago I was riding my bicycle over a portion of the Appalachians, in western Massachusetts, on my way to Saratoga Springs in upstate New York. I was going up a long uphill, in fact I had been going uphill for the past three hours or so.

And, damn, what did I see up ahead? I saw somebody hiking alongside the highway, wearing baggy and frumpy clothes, with a hood over the head, and carrying a gnarled Gandalf-style walking stick. It was hard to tell the gender or age of the person.

CD Review: Nad Neslo ‘Back from Gone’

By sheer coincidence I popped in this CD and took a drive thru our local Temecula Valley wine country, touring 2 lane roads with rolling hills and the sun setting behind the hills to sink into the ocean. I found myself opening my sunroof and cranking up the radio and just chillin’. It was nice, the guitar ripped over smooth beats, the wind blew over my mohawk - it was a sweet journey. That is exactly what Nad’s CD ‘Back from Gone’ is all about. Long songs are the average here and they progress around loose arrangements that help you glide down a long strech of highway, its what Nad wanted, and its what I wanted and it was good. Check it out for yourself at http://www.nadneslo.com and chill to the vibe.

CD Review: Sue Brescia ‘Hope Rising’

When I first listen to a CD I am reviewing, I just put the CD in and start to listen - no looking at pictures or reading of the bio. I want to hear the music first. After listening to a song or two, the depth of Sue’s lryics left me thinking she might have been thru a rough patch in her life and now onward to happy times. After reading her Bio, I understood the full complexity of Sue and her dedication to charitable causes. The production on this CD is first rate, the songs are well written and performed with great skill. For people who like female fronted adult contemporary music - this is a must buy!
