Police Scanner: Fugitive in 1996 Murrieta Murder Arrested in Mexico

Michoacan, Mexico - A man sought for the past eleven years by the Murrieta Police Department and the FBIs Inland Regional Apprehension Team (IRAT) is in custody in Michoacan, Mexico, announced J. Stephen Tidwell, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI in Los Angeles. Crispin Solorio Garcia, 28, of Mexico, was wanted in connection with the 1996 brutal killing of 13-year old SophiaCrispin Solorio Garcia Briseno in Murrieta, California.

Sophia Briseno did not return home on the night of February 12, 1996 after she was allegedly last seen with her estranged boyfriend Crispin Solorio Garcia. Sophia Briseno’s body was found on February 18, 1996 in a field just east of the Laurel Cemetery on Ivy Street in Murrieta. Sophia Briseno’s cause of death was determined to be from multiple stab wounds.

After an investigation conducted by the Murrieta Police Department, Garcia was charged with murder by the Riverside County District Attorneys Office. When Detectives with the Murrieta Police Department determined that Solorio Garcia had fled the state of California, the FBI obtained a federal arrest warrant and Solorio Garcia was charged in United States District Court in Riverside with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP), in violation of Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 1073.

A second person, Francisco Gonzalez Ochoa, is also wanted for his alleged role in Briseno’s murder and is currently being sought by agents and officers assigned to IRAT. Francisco Gonzalez Ochoa has also been charged by Riverside County authorities with murder, and federally, with UFAP. Police Scanner: Murder in Lake Elsinore, suspect on the loose

Lake Elsinore, California - On June 15, 2007, at approximately 930pm, officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department were dispatched to the Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot at 31257 Riverside Dr reference a fight in progress.

On arrival the officers located a male subject in the parking lot suffering from a stab wound. The victim, later identified as Shane McLaughlin 35 years old of Lake Elsinore, was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. McLaughlin was declared dead shortly after arrival.
