A LITTLE FROM COLUMN ‘A’, A LITTLE FROM COLUMN ‘B’

INTERNATIONAL NEWS & LOCAL NEWS

Column A – While most people are reading the ‘fluff’ mixed with some hard news on MSN or listening to the all spin zone on FOX and the other mainstream media, things like the fact that Nigeria is trying to bring a federal lawsuit against Pfizer, a Fortune 500 USA firm, goes unreported. The lawsuit by the government of Nigeria seeks to stop Pfizer, a prescription drug company, from testing new antibiotics on orphans in Nigeria, a practice that has left many of the orphans dead, paralyzed, or whacked in some physical way. The unethical practice harkens back to the Nazi way of using ‘undesirable’ humans as test animals and lab rats, but goes the evil extra mile by using defenseless children on another continent. Kind of gives the term ‘ugly American’ a fresh twisted up-to-date look, don’t cha know. Who knew Hannibal Lector was a major Pfizer stock holder?

Column B – They have been pulling up all day and then speeding away as more and more people are finding out that Godfather’s Pizza, located next to Dippin’ Dots in T-town’s K-Mart Plaza (Temecula, CA) has closed its doors as of three days ago. Karma and mis-management, not Elliot Ness, put the Godfather out of business. It all started when the new owner, a newbie to the area, took over the thriving 15-year old store less than two years ago. After bussing the tables and stealing the waitress’ tips, the new owner with a Masters in Chintzy, started delivering orders himself to healthy tippers like Guidant (now Abbot Labs) because the delivery drivers ‘were making too much money’, cancelled the school lunch program because there ‘wasn’t enough money in it’, cut out all the specials, and stopped advertising because ‘everyone knows where this place is’. Once again it has been proven that ‘common sense’ IS an oxymoron.
