MIDNITE SNEEK PEEK – THE ‘IT’S ABOUT THE MUSIC’ MOVIE TRAILER
French Valley, CA – As I sit here and type this report, I hold in my hands the ‘hot-off-the-press’ movie trailer to Ivan Promotions’ It’s About The Music’, the documentary that shows what it takes to ‘rock in America’ these days in the ‘myspace scene’. Filmed 90% in and around T-town, many local music stars are shown just in the clip, like Ryan Mudd & The Stuff, Inverse, Strike Twelve, Jupiter, Panima, just to name a few, all backed with a sizzling soundtrack. Production is above average and the editing was headed by Ivan himself. In short, it flows. This clip can be viewed here. Stay tuned here for more on putting the Temecula music scene on the map through Indy film.

INVISBLE CHILDREN UPDATE – THE COUNTDOWN
As some people wait for ‘The Simpsons Movie’ and ‘Spiderman 3’ to be released in the summer of ’07, last night I sat in a darkened theatre with hundreds of others and an encore for many, in complete silence watching the saga of ‘Invisible Children – Rough Cut’ and waited for any news about the upcoming overnight campout IC event, ‘Displace Me’. Actually the event will start at noon on the 28th of April and run till noon on the 29th, a Sunday. This time the idea is to mimic a large group of people living (on a dollar a day) in a ‘displacement’ campsite as the Acholi Tribe has been made to do by the in-power government of Uganda. These campgrounds are just ‘wide spots in the road’ with none of the facilities you would find at any truck stop, campsite, or RV park in the United States, Britain, or Canada. Since the brown-skinned people in office are not of the same tribe as the brown-skinned folks in the camp, many of the soldiers who are sent to guard the camps are HIV positive and rapes occur often. Due to these and other deplorable conditions, as many as 1000 people die a month, and this has been going on for a while. Since there is no ‘racism’ involved here, the logic from a spiritual/universal view is that ‘three’ young people from a tribe that had much would discover and seek to help the young people of a tribe that had/has little, “and the cosmic ballet plays on,” is what Spock would maybe say. It is interesting and heartening to see that U.S. food aid is coming in from some charity but that is a bandage on a missing limb.
The organization started by the then three kids from San Diego, only one of which had any beach tan to take to Africa, has grown into a full fledged ‘help’ as opposed to ‘charity’ program. A number of the young people involved in the core workings of the movement have been to Northern Uganda, including some who initially said, “no way, man.” Invisible Children is a movement that is moving forward and is on the march. All of the young hosts of the ‘IC Tour’ hosting this showing at the Temeku Cinemas were articulate and at the end of the documentary, a young woman came up on stage and introduced the ‘update’ part of the show, giving folks a glimpse of what had taken place since last year’s 130 city Global Night Commute, herself a veteran of the rainy Seattle GNC night. In her eyes was the same determination you see on everyone really involved in this movement to end a war in a place with no oil and only children at stake. (OK, the end of that last statement was political. Adults are being harmed as well. –ed.). The update also covered the three ways you can help support the cause. Word from backstage is the Los Angeles spot for the camp-in is going to be the LA County Fairgrounds. Permits are being sought even as you read this. For the 411.
