BREAKING T-TOWN SCENE NEWS !!!

DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE – DOUBLE YOUR FUN
Music fans that came out to CUPPY’S for Christian Rock Night may have noticed the slight change. Wednesday night’s ‘open mike’ night crew may have muttered that something was different. But Thursday night the murmur was almost palatable. Where was the Rock/Movie Bus? Had a new tour taken the bus on as a mascot?? Was there a ‘renegade music’ show taking place and being filmed somewhere?? A night shot, perhaps!? By Friday as I covered the return of THE SLOW POISONER and BURKE up the hill in French Valley, news was out and the 411 was that the bus had been spotted across town at a place called ‘The Sound of Music’, a music school recently relocated from the Target Center on Rancho Cal Road and Ynez, across from Pat & Oscar’s at the duck pond. Long a fixture here in the community and one of several locations that music lessons are taught at, the facility was the only full service music store until the arrival of the Murrieta Guitar Center (see archive article). Perhaps this new market rival helped shine a light toward the Rock Bus, which was present doing a ‘renegade music show’ in the parking lot that night?

BURNING MAN BECOMES AN ARMY OF ONE: MATT PIERCE ENLISTS and other local tidbipsy info
March 27, 2007 by PT Rothschild.
Temecula, CA – Matt Pierce, Full Value Review’s ‘inside man’ at last year’s Burning Man art festival who provided an in-depth personal view of what it is like to be at the week long ‘without a shower’ art gathering. His personal observations were further aided by the brilliant photos supplied by Dan Dawson (www.ddphoto.cc/burningman - thanks, Dan, we and thousands of our readers did enjoy them’). Spotted by this reporter and almost missed because of the new haircut and non-black apparel, Matt, one of the original first year Java Jo’z regulars, said he leaves in a few days for basic training. Bridget, Captain Tuesday, and all the Full Value crew will miss Matt but wish him all the best as he goes to be all he can be. Be Safe and Peace Out, Matt.

GUNS, GANGSTERS, AND GANGBUSTERS: ‘SMOKING ACES’ FILM REVIEW
March 25, 2007 by PT Rothschild.
THRILLS, CHILLS, & KILLS – THE SMOKIN’ ACES MOVIE REVIEW
Already out on DVD for purchase or rental but still in its last week at T-town’s Temeku Cinemas (9:55PM) being shown on the big screen is ‘Smokin’ Aces’, a film directed by Joe Carnahan (‘Narc’ 2002). Seen with my all male posse of Capt. Tuesday, Dan, Tim, and Tim’s younger brother, James, all first year alumni regulars of Java Jo’z, I can say unequivocally that this is a ‘guy’ flick. This is a ‘McBain’ movie without McBain (‘The Simpsons’). Released on 1/26/07 and grossing over $35 Mil, I was up for seeing this movie when it debuted because if the trailer was accurate, this promised to be a ‘rock’em-sock’em’ in-your-face film with a Cracker Jack plot, ensemble cast mob movie. Unlike the mob movie ‘The Departed’ which won an Oscar©, ‘Smokin’ Aces’ is a film where the violence is heavier than the plotline, a reversal of the aforementioned movie. Again, this is not a date movie, something my day job IT guy Sean found out the hard way. Still, if you don’t mind the gore you get in films like ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ without the horror, then ‘Smokin’ Aces’ is a film for you.
Here’s why:
The dialog is smart, funny, and ‘two-nickel’ slick,…..
