TAKE A DRINK FOR A SMILE YOU DON’T KNOW

TRADING THIRST FOR SMILES

Many people know of my involvement and passion for the Invisible Children Project, but out here in Hollywood, you can’t be a ‘one trick’ pony. So while there are many charitable efforts for the many ill-effected groups of folks that live on the planet, my heart and nose for news found a cause both dear to my taste buds and convenience. ‘Changing lives one smile at a time’, AriZona Beverages (teas) www.arizonabev.com support OPERATION SMILE, www.operationsmile.org , an organization that provides corrective surgery to children worldwide suffering from devastating facial deformities. Costing as little as $240 per surgery, AriZona Teas donates 5% of its sales to this worthy endeavor of correcting and perfecting the smiles of small children. The pictures of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots show one ‘before’ child devoid of hope, empty, and the ‘after’ shot looking like ‘here comes the ice cream truck’, his ‘hair lip’ repaired. The girl stares into the camera, perhaps seeing her face on the lens and wonders, ‘is that me?’ Visit both websites for more details. Locally here in the Temecula/Murrieta valley and surrounding area, you can pick up AriZona Teas at Albertson’s (and other mass merchants) along with the 99¢ Stores. Believe me when I say that this is the economically tastiest way to support a great cause helping children.

IVAN PROMOTIONS AT HOME AND ABROAD IN FEBRUARY

IVAN PROMOTIONS TO GO INTERNATIONAL – AN UPDATE

Temecula, CA – Today Ivan of Ivan Productions motored up to LA to obtain his passport so that he can leave for Japan next Tuesday to accompany the punk band TOTAL CAOS on this leg of their world tour. Leaving at 5AM this morning, Ivan and Keirah, driver and now associate manager to take charge of shows in his absence, arrived at the passport office at 8:30 AM. After several misfires they were to receive the final passport this afternoon. Covering the final European leg of the tour will be Jamaal after Ivan returns to the states. The shooting schedule is light for the month of February.

COFFEE HOUSE BREWS MENDED FENCES

JAVA JO’Z MUSIC SHOW BREWS MENDED FENCES

Temecula, CA - Saturday night’s music show at Java Jo’z (Cuppy’s) brought more than good music to the scene as fences were mended between Full Value Entertainment and Ivan Promotions. The two companies which had shared the JJ’z limelight under the original owners, had relations strained when FVE left JJ’z and IP took over. Rather than fan the flames of intolorance or indifference, voices close to both parties urged a ‘chill-out’ time for them both until the dust could settle from the scene shift. News of this meeting of the musical minds came to this reporter as I was deep on the way to Bro-ville and the shooting range in search of the next ‘breaking’ story of local human interest. Before MTV News, you read about it here first.

SO CALI FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

IT’S 7PM AND FRIDAY, DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR KIDS ARE?

If your kids live in or around T-town or Murr-ville here in So Cali, and are into fresh, new music played by their peers and classmates, then your kids are probably at one of the three rock shows being staged locally tonight. And speaking of staging, Cuppy’s, the X-Java Jo’z coffeehouse establishment has added a new bigger stage to go along with the suspended speaker system now gracing the entertainment area. Their Friday night show will debut the new stage. Over in French Valley at the Monte Vista Theatre, the ‘battle of the bands’ for a spot in the upcoming Temecula Music Fest continues with another round of fine talent headlined by THE RAINMAN SUITE, brought to be the valley’s premier promoters, Full Value Entertainment. Across town on the Southern edge of T-Town at the Rancho Community Church on Hwy 79 South you have the ‘farewell’ show of The Chemistry, a local band who seemed to be following in the footsteps of local legends, FINCH, by getting signed, is performing their last (?) time together as a band since being ‘stranded in limbo’ by their label. Joining them at that show is THE INVERSE with an opening act. It ain’t New York or Detroit, or even LA, but if you’re a young adult or a young thinking adult interested in ‘new’ undiscovered music, you’ve got to be pretty happy living in this valley on this Friday night. And remember, live music is your best entertainment value.
