THE T-TOWN SCENE EXPANDS

YEAR END SCENE NEWS

It seems this time of the year brings about changes to the ‘scene’. Past years have brought changes to the FVE crew but this year the scene itself has changed, at least in the new music department. The news is:

Full Value Entertainment moves to the new neighborhood of wine country by bringing the facilities of Wiens Family Cellars the FVE music magic. Shows will continue at both T-town’s CRC on Rancho Vista, a block west of TVHS, and the Monte Vista Theatre, located in French Valley. Plans are moving forward to complete the ‘Battle of the Bands’ runoff for the next Temecula Music Fest in Spring ‘07. D.O.R.K. is also set to come back around that time.

Ivan Promotions, formally just a merch and movie crew, has also moved into new territory by being selected to provide music shows at Java Jo’z. So far, being on movie hiatus for the holidays has allowed the crew to repaint the bus into a much more eye catching full wrap. Unfortunately it was a little too theatrical for one upscale neighborhood. Too bad they didn’t know that their ‘hood is on the short list for the opening narrative shot, but you didn’t hear it here.

Jack E, another local music sound promotion company has also entered the adult market, but across the tracks from the wine cellars. Private, 21& up, invite only, club and after-parties happen but only on a ‘need-to-know’ basis. Admission is $20, all you can drink, and live entertainment, usually a jam session, especially if an after-party. Dress warm or hope for a large crowd. This is under-underground so you get to party with the band/musicians/insiders.

Meanwhile though the music continues, the old bunch is all gone, starting with Bill, little ‘Princess’ Apryl all dressed in pink, Jeney Keenwild and all the many people who were a part of the original JJz coffee scene. Captain Tuesday, the last holdout, announced to me that he too was vacating. He will be helping with the wine tasting music shows of FVE. It is truly a changing of the guard. So too must I say a type of farewell. Though I will cover a theme show now and then, or a FVE event, the home front draws me near. I have to be more of a parent which means nights at home, even if I’m just a presence. But that’s only reason number 1. As people see me drive around town in the movie bus they may not recall that I ‘m part of the movie crew and the movie crew was before the music shows came about. I’m there for the movie and the news it generates, plus with it being cold outside, it feels good to retire the bike for awhile. Besides plenty of music news and politics, an Invisible Children fundraiser is being planned for the Spring and I’m a part of that. as Crystal, visiting back from boot camp for the holidays said, “The scene is fluffy.” True that, and all us regulars have floated away. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
