THE LAST LAST SHOW
We’ve all heard of the Late Late Show, but this being trendy T-town, a test market and all, you couldn’t have just a ‘last’ Java Jo’z Johnny show, so on Thursday, just days after the last ‘official’ JJJ show on the previous Saturday, the inside of the coffee shop with the best sandwiches in the valley, again heard the sounds of music. A number of local musicians gathered to have a final jam session and show appreciation to Johnny, the man behind making the coffeehouse the ‘scene spot’. If memory serves, it was Johnny that called FVE, it was Johnny that added sandwiches to the former coffeehouse drink only menu, and of course it was Johnny that was the sandwich master around the place.
In attendance in no particular order were Dominic Carciapolo (INVERSE – guitar), Paul Bahou (INVERSE – bass), Dan Bahou (STRIKE TWELVE – drums), Eddie (former CHAPTER 14 – bass), RYAN MUDD w/o THE STUFF, Vince of NICE DAY, Jared and Ross Torlock, also band members. Joining the professionals on stage in various songs were Ziad, background vocals and Paul’s cousin, celebrating his 18th birthday; Hannah, Paul’s scholastic girlfriend, on shaker; and Ryan’s roommate, Victor, on guitar. Watching as Dominic played guitar and drums; Paul did vocals, guitar, and bass; Dan played drums and bongos; Ross played drums looking like a drummer you might see from the ‘Glam’ rock 80’s; Vince played Tambourine; and Ryan sang songs like ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Nurse’ were Tim, Adam, Movie Crew Ivan, Timmy, Candice, and Moi, along with Jimmy, the carpenter who built the interior of Java Jo’z and did a quick turn on the tambourine for a song with JJ Johnny, who also made sandwiches for the last time. Several friends of friends and walk-ups enjoyed the impromptu show with Mike, Michael (Timmy’s friend), the Captain, who was in and out early, and Darla, who materialized late wearing fake UGGS. It was the last last show.
