IVAN PROMOTIONS TO GO ABOARD

IVAN PROMOTIONS TO GO INTERNATIONAL

Temecula, CA – In this update to our original piece about TOTAL CHAOS asking Ivan Promotions to shoot the band’s next video, it has come to this source that now the band will be taking Ivan (and his digi vidi) on the road with them as they tour Japan and Europe in February 2007. More on this breaking story as further details become available.

GRUNT LOG FLUSHED AWAY

‘THE POWER OF THE PRESS’
Most of us have heard this expression but as I sit here typing this latest column, I can attest to it and the far reach of the internet. Several days ago, a friend of mine who is a recent legal immigrant to So Cali from Russia asked me to help her with her computer monitor which had just gone blank while her young son was using it. The task sounded simple enough but wound up becoming the first ‘grunt log’ story.
On the call back to Compaq’s Tech Support to try and resolve my friend’s impasse about receiving a replacement monitor as the warranty was rapidly expiring in a few days, I was expecting some resistance, as had been present in my initial call. As it turned out, this time the request for a replacement monitor went the way that would make Wallace (of Wallace & Gromit) remark, “Well, that went as well as could be expected.”
That’s right, Sports Fans, this time the warranty replacement process went like ‘grease through a goose’. My friend should receive her new monitor around Tuesday or Wednesday. They even gave us a tracking number which is why I’m writing this update before the unit arrives.
So what happened?? I’d like to say, like Lisa Simpson, that the system worked, that the call was monitored and a manager who could say ‘yes’ heard the request. Maybe the advanced CSR finally saw the common sense logic to the conundrum.
Perhaps though, just maybe someone read the ‘grunt log’ piece online, saw the problem through my sarcasm, and realized the old business axiom is true, “the Customer is always right.” Perhaps that someone also works at Hewitt-Packard and alerted the proper authorities who, in turn, added the ‘yes’ to the case file. Whatever happened, it left a very large ‘warm & fuzzy’ in my heart to be able to help someone reach a satisfactory solution to a problem facing them, just by being a writer online.
