VICTIM OF SOCIETY DEMO CD Review
October 10, 2006 by PT Rothschild.
A BLAST FROM THE PAST
When you hear the first few guitar riffs gently float in, then get punched by the downbeat of the tom, followed after by a tenor voice singing of a sorrow, you know the classic lead-in to a power ballad from the 80’s. But this is not the 80’s and though it sounds like GUNS ‘N’ ROSES meets CINDERELLA, the song, ‘City of Lights’ is by neither band. Rather the song is found on the latest Demo from the local (Murrieta-Temecula) band, Victim of Society. Production quality of the CD has improved from the days when the band was a semi-regular at the Madlins shows back in the day. Metal riffs, screaming vocals (not screamo), and words about loneliness, along with the musical crafting of ‘City of Lights’ make this song a hit V.O.S. can hang their hats on. The song on track 4 is that one rare gem you hope to find when you listen to any CD of new music. Listen to it at their myspace site.
