“No Illegal Immigrants”- Neo-Con Speak for …
August 29, 2006 by PT Rothschild.
“We don’t want any more f**king Mexicans”. Anyone familiar with the ‘Kansas City Shuffle’ (see ‘Lucky Number Sleven’) knows a smoke and mirror trick when they see it. As has been pointed out by journalists before me, the ‘Ooo, watch out, here the illegal (Mexicans) gag is a running stunt fanned by the government to get you to watch the left hand while the right hand gets you ready for a ‘national’ ID card complete with Veri chip. This is to take effect May 8th, 2008, and was attached as a rider to the spending bill providing money for Iraq and Katrina this year (look it up for yourself and welcome to ‘the real world circa ‘1984′).
Of course it’s easy to exploit anyone based on their ethnic ego. Some years back I returned to the church I was reared in because I happened to be in my hometown on a Sunday. The guest minister there went into a political sermon with the end point being that the people listening to him were ‘better’ than the ‘white’ people outside their church not because these people were in church, but because they were ‘black’. The whole congregation rose and gave him a standing ovation. I was the only one who stayed seated and didn’t clap. I was stunned at the political use of the pulpit, AND by the reaction to what the guest minister said. It was the last time I ever stepped inside my old Congregational denominational church.
However, ‘you can’t make a saint out of me’. Before I came to So Cali I bore a prejudice against Mexicans. The reason? A Midwestern white American would rather have has daughter marry a ‘mexican’ who may have just been in the country maybe a generation, than marry a ‘black’ whose family had been here over a hundred years. The reasoning was that ‘mexicans’ weren’t too dark so the kids wouldn’t be ‘black’ looking and ‘mexicans’ have straight hair so the kids wouldn’t be ‘nappy-headed’. [Obviously, the ‘white man’, who has always been obsessed with the ‘black man’s’ sexual prowess, feels that pubic hair on the head means sex is always on the brain.] That logic pissed me off and gave me an attitude toward ‘mexicans’. The fact that many Mexicans in those days in the midwest talked to each other in Spanish didn’t help. Then I met the people of Hero Street and my attitude began to change.
Since moving to So Cali, I have had the pleasure of making Mexican friends and being around to see their contribution to this great country and its culture. When I read this morning’s paper about the ‘protest’ over illegal immigration and the remarks made by the people demonstrating, I had to write this commentary. 50 years ago the same remarks were made whenever black people marched for equality and civil rights:
Arne Chandler, 60, head of CASA (Citizen Activist for a Secure America) says (Mexican) day laborers are a “blight”*. Well, Arne, when’s the last time you came over to my house and helped me rearrange my garage on a Saturday for any amount of money an hour?
Larry Culberson, 61, drove 50 miles and feels “it’s not good for our economy, for our people and it’s detrimental to our environment,” he said. “It cheats people out of income tax … and overburdens our schools.”* Is this 2006 or 1954 Birmingham, Alabama? How about you, Larry, driving up here and keeping trendy Temecula’s business-industrial parks all neatly groomed and landscaped since you care so much for the environment?
Robert Sterling, 41, of Temecula —- contended that many laborers are criminals who “rape our children.”* I won’t even dignify that comment with a snide remark, except to say, see the above rebuttal question, ‘is this 2006…
Folks, pull your head out of your ass, it’s giving you a shitty outlook on life, and know that before 1964 there was no illegal immigration from Mexico. The government made it illegal. Before ‘64 the Mexican people moved back and forth across the border with no problems. They would come to work (the fields) and return home after the season. It was a migration. When the government closed the border that created the immigration ‘problem’ and the ‘criminals’ thereafter. I repeat, when the government changed the class schedule in 1937, that created the pot ‘problem’ and the ‘criminals’ thereafter.
Can you now spot the doorway to reality? Either focus or fold.
