The Whiskey - 10/18/05: Dork live performance review

Dork:

Sure there were a few people in the whiskey before Dork, but the real crowd appeared almost magically when Dork’s set was about to start. You know a band is going to make it when crowds are showing up only for them a thousand miles away from their hometown. Maybe it was their two times playing across the nation with Warped Tour. Dork has more style, poise, and definitely showmanship than any of that nonsense that’s big right now. They’re the band that puts you in that euphoric mood at every show which you relive every time you hear a studio track. Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. For the record, this is coming from a habitual Pop Punk hater, but this is the nostalgic stuff of our childhood, it’s the type of band we all grew up listening to. We were all caught in an illusive Shangri La moment where people from all walks of life can put down their problems and enjoy the fleeting seconds ticking by. The Emo kids were sadly absent however, but you know they have Dork in their private myspace to experience the next best thing to seeing Dork live. Stop by www.myspace.com/dork. All you myspace haters can do it too, we promise we won’t judge you. Just a side note, Yes, Bryan did slowly strip off an article of clothing every time the audience screamed, “Fuck yeah!” along with the song “Fuck yeah!” leaving with only a pair of boxers. For the record, Yes, it must have been pretty warm, and No, he’s never going to live it down.

P.S. For all the old Dork fans, Dork played the super catchy “Friday Night,” which was definitely hit material before they retired it.
